Travel
American, Delta, and United offer daily service to Chile, as does Lan Chile, the Chilean National Airline. The majority of foreign flights depart in the evening for Chile and arrive early in the morning at the Santiago International Airport. A one-time $100 entry fee is collected at customs. After receiving your luggage and clearing customs, you'll take a 5-minute walk to the Domestic Airport where you'll connect with a 90-minute flight to Puerto Montt. Upon arrival you will be met by our representative who will assist you with your connecting flight to Chaitan, followed by a three-hour drive to the lodge.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a 30-pound luggage limitation on the charter flight from Puerto Montt to Chaitan. Any luggage weight overage will result in an extra charge.
Weather and Climate
Monthly lows and highs: November-December 45-80°F; January-March 50-85°F; April-May 40-70°F. We fish between the 42nd and 43rd parallel south. The weather is temperate, equivalent to that of Washington and Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. Although wind can lower temperatures, heavy rains are not likely. However, some storms can occur during the summer lowering temperatures some. The rainy season begins May and ends in September.
Season/Fishing
November through mid-April/rainbow, brown, and brook trout, some king, silver and Atlantic salmon.
Tipping
For simplicity, we suggest each angler wait until the end of the trip and pay $300 TOTAL, to be divided up among lodge and guide staff.
Payment/Cancellation
A 50% deposit per person is required to secure your reservation. Payments are not refundable, but are assignable to another person or transferable to any other open date within that season. Fianl payment is due 45 days prior to arrival.
Equipment Rental
We have equipment available for those in your party who do not have their own equipment or for those who choose not to bring their equipment. We use Sage fly rods and Sage reels, with the appropriate fly lines. Should you wish to rent a rod and reel you must let us know, in advance, so that we may reserve one for you.
