Booking with Rod & Gun Resources

Why Book With Us?

  • Arranging bird hunts and fishing trips is our only business, so we don't like to make mistakes. We go to enormous trouble to be sure we intimately know the habitats in the areas we represent, and within those premier habitats we spend equal time getting to know the best outfitter and lodge accommodations. We have visited many of our destinations 20-30-40 times.
  • We actually own and/or operate several of our more prominent trips, and in addition we serve as the United States reservations headquarters for many of our other destinations and can give you immediate availability on dates. No waiting for days to hear back from outfitters in remote or far and distant locations.
  • Arranging a trip through Rod & Gun Resources costs no more than dealing directly with a lodge or outfitter — often less, in fact. We can save you money and costly mistakes by insuring you are in the right place at the proper time for the game you are seeking.
  • No one in the outdoor travel business has more knowledge and hands-on experience with the destinations mentioned herein. When you call, you will speak to a dedicated fellow bird hunter or angler who understands every nuance of the trip—and who speaks from repeated, and most importantly, recent experience.
  • Once a trip with Rod & Gun Resources is confirmed, you will receive very detailed pre-trip information to assist in your preparation. These specifics on travel, clothing, equipment, weather, local customs and many other items are meticulously prepared and updated frequently—sometimes weekly, depending on the trip

Airline Ticketing

Our travel staff at Rod & Gun Resources carefully arranges air travel from home cities to many of our destinations. Working in conjunction with our travel agent partners and directly with senior sales departments of the major international carriers, we provide efficient schedules and ticketing, and in many cases prices significantly below published discount fares.

Clients are of course welcome to use their own travel agencies if they prefer.

Pre-Trip Planning

When we arrange your hunting or fishing trip, you are properly prepared!

When we send an invoice to a client, we send a detailed list of suggested equipment and clothing, along with additional information regarding visas and hunting or fishing documents/permits, airport transfers, airlines, local currency, language, time zones, trip insurance, shopping and restaurants (if applicable), gratuities, etc. For a fishing trip, the information will include a list of very specific lures or flies in exact colors and sizes and in many cases even where to buy them.

Deposit Payments

When you decide to book one of our adventures, we will send you a letter confirming the arrangements and price, along with a deposit invoice. At that time we will also include any pertinent visa or document applications and pre-trip planning information.

The deposits are due back within 10 days of receipt. Of course, there is flexibility within these parameters based on individual circumstances. Final payment invoices are mailed 60 days prior to departure and are due in our office by no later than 45 days prior.

Each individual program has a specific cancellation policy that is outlined in the original invoice. Trip cancellation insurance is always available.

Our staff provides assistance in procuring visas for countries which require them. We have been down "embassy road" many times and can help take the headaches out of the process.

In cases where licenses and gun permits are required, we will send you the application forms and instructions. When we receive the completed applications from you, we double check and review the information carefully and then have them delivered to our contact at the pertinent Embassy, Fish & Game Department and/or Military Office. Sometimes this process is simple, sometimes tricky, but our staff has been through the process literally thousands of times. In most cases, we will make sure the correct documents are in your hands well prior to your departure. For certain destinations, the outfitter will meet you with the documents.
